713 CEG (HISTORY)

713 Community Empowerment Group was birthed by a community

organizer and the Matriarch of our family, Mrs. Marion Garner

Marion Garner, wife and mother of 12 children was born in Chicago, IL.  Marion had great love and passion for the youth in her community and an even greater compassion for the senior citizen community at large.  So much so, that she partnered with the Illinois Department of Human Services and launched the VERY FIRST - Adult Day Care program in Chicago, Illinois.  On which she earned and received a recognition award from the Mayor of Chicago, Michael A. Bilandic.

This nonprofit organization's name was chosen to honor Marion Garner's date of birth - July 13th (713).  Today her passion to empower the youth in her community and legacy she created lives on through this family-based 501c3 organization that many know today as 713 Community Empowerment Group.
