About Us

713 Community Empowerment Group is a 501c3 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization that serves the needs of women and girls of The Greater Chicago metropolitan area and its surrounding areas. Founded in 2009, the organization started as a small community project helping underserved women with their basic skill needs. One year later 713 CEG launched a new program by the name of Prom Girls Rock. To-date, we have helped thousands of girls be able to attend their prom by giving away beautiful, donated gowns and accessories.

We have since added our series of basic skills programs and workshops. These educational classes assist the community with achievement of strong social, emotional, spiritual, and economic success.

Our organization engages girls and young women in interactive learning experiences designed to build self-esteem and strong leadership skills to help them live to their highest potential.

We recently rolled out our latest program "Talk Out Loud" geared towards high school and young women.  This  monthly program encourages students to come together to discuss the latest topics of concerned among this demographic.

Our History

713 CEG was birthed by a community organizer and the Matriarch of our family, Mrs. Marion Garner. Marion Garner, wife and mother of 12 children was born in Chicago, IL.  Marion had great love and passion for the senior citizen community.  So much so, that she partnered with the Department of Human Services and launched the VERY FIRST - Adult Day Care program in Chicago Illinois. One of which she won a recognition award from the Mayor of Chicago. Today her passion to help her community and legacy lives on through the family-based nonprofit 501c3 organization that many know today as 713 community Empowerment Group.
